Commercial fire exit doors on a London street
Fire Door Installation

Fire Door Installation

Sentinel Projects supplies and installs certified fire doorsets for schools, hospitals and commercial buildings across Northampton, Cambridge, Oxford, London and the rest of the UK. Our installers are FireQual-qualified and BlueSky-certified, and every installation comes with the handover documentation you need for building control and your fire risk assessment.

Fitted right first time, to your programme

A fire door only performs if it is installed correctly. The right doorset, fitted with the wrong gaps, the wrong ironmongery or the wrong seals, will fail when it matters and fail its inspection long before that.

We fit certified doorsets as complete, tested assemblies, so the door, frame, seals and ironmongery all carry the rating together. And we plan the work around your schedule, because we know a door holding up a handover costs you more than the door itself.

Completed fire door installation in a London heritage residential building

What we install

Certified FD30 and FD60 doorsets, timber and composite

Fire-rated frames, seals and glazing

Fire-rated ironmongery, including closers, hinges and locks

Correct gaps, seals and threshold detailing to maintain the rating

Signage and labelling as required

Each installation is completed to the doorset manufacturer's certification and to BS 8214, the standard for timber fire door installation.

The documentation you need

A compliant door is only as useful as the paperwork that proves it. Under Regulation 38 of the Building Regulations, fire safety information must be handed to the Responsible Person at completion. We provide that handover pack as standard, covering:

  • Doorset certification and ratings
  • Installation records and photographs
  • Ironmongery specifications
  • Maintenance guidance

That pack goes straight into your fire safety file and satisfies both building control and your fire risk assessor.

Common questions

An FD30 door resists fire for 30 minutes, an FD60 for 60 minutes. Which you need depends on the building, the location of the door and your fire strategy. We advise on the correct rating so you neither under-specify nor pay for more than the building requires.

Yes. We supply and install certified doorsets as complete assemblies, so the whole set carries the rating.

Yes. Every installation comes with a handover pack covering certification, ratings, installation records and maintenance guidance.

Yes, through the same route as any fire door: regular inspection. We can carry out the quarterly or annual checks your building needs and remediate anything that drifts out of tolerance over time, rather than leaving upkeep to chance between installation and your next legally required inspection.
