Fire Door Inspections
Sentinel Projects inspects fire doors in schools, hospitals, managed properties and commercial estates across Northampton, Cambridge, Oxford, London and the rest of the UK. Every inspection produces a clear, photographed report that shows what passes, what needs work, and what to prioritise. We are FireQual-qualified and BlueSky-certified.
Know exactly where you stand
A fire door either holds for the rated time or it does not, and the difference comes down to details you cannot judge by eye. Our inspection checks each door against the standard and gives you a record you can hand to your fire risk assessor, your insurer, or an inspector who asks to see it.
You come away knowing three things: which doors pass, which need remedial work, and which need replacing. No guesswork, and no pressure to book the work with us.
What we check
Our inspection covers every element that determines whether a door performs:
Gaps around the leaf, measured against tolerance
Intumescent and smoke seals, for condition and coverage
Self-closing devices, for operation and closing force
Hinges and fixings, for type and condition
Glazing and beading, where fitted
Signage, on both faces where required
Certification and labelling, where present
The frame, threshold and surrounding structure
Each door is photographed and logged. You receive a report with a pass or fail against each door and a prioritised schedule of any remedial work.
Why inspections matter now
The Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 set out clear duties for buildings with communal areas:
| Building | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Over 11m in height | Quarterly checks of communal fire doors, annual checks of flat entrance doors |
| All relevant premises | Fire doors kept in effective working order and repair |
HMOs and residential.
Communal and flat entrance door inspections ahead of licensing renewal.
